4.3 Education and Training through the Education Programmes

There are here three interrelated areas in which Community action takes place: education proper, vocational training, and youth exchanges. In the period under consideration (1987-1996), of the total Community expenditure on education, vocational training and youth through the education programmes, 49.9 per cent of the average was allocated to education, 42.6 per cent to vocational training, and 7.5 per cent to youth exchanges (Figure 4.6).
